Investigate the physiologically active substances found in mosses

1. Investigating antibacterial, antitumor and aroma components of mosses.

2. Searching for beneficial uses for key moss bioactive compounds in medicine and other applications.

Learn more about the research

Mosses are known as specimen plants for their ease of handling, because insects do not consume them. Also, some mosses possess antibacterial agents and antitumor properties. Despite the accepted, useful biological activities of moss, there has been very little research done on these properties. We investigated many types of moss and successfully detected biological activities related to the control of human chronic illness. Now we plan to investigate a broad range of moss plants, identify their sophisticated physiologically active substances and proceed with research with the goal of turning them into products that can benefit human health.
