Shono. I was inspired by the amazing regenerative abilities of plants after inducing genetic tumors in minced tobacco shoots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Research and Work History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1993: Performed functional analysis of human herpes cancer gene at the National Institute of Health, Infectious Diseases, Virus Department 1, as post-doctoral researcher (Lab Chief, &nbsp;Kazuo Yanagi).<br>1994: Performed functional analysis of stress-dependent polycistronic genes in tomatoes at Purdue University, as post-doctoral researcher (Prof. L. Csonka, R. Bressan and P. Hasegawa).<br>1998: Performed research on the development and morphogenesis of plants at the Graduate School of Science \/ Faculty of Science, Kyoto University and at the Graduate School of Science, Nagoya University as post-doctoral researcher (Prof. Y. Machida).<br>2000: Took a post as an assistant at the Hasebe Laboratory, at the National Institute for Basic Biology, Evolutionary Biology Research Division (Division of Speciation Mechanisms II), and
